DF-50 DIFFUSIONÔ HAZER USES AND BENEFITS The DF-50 was first developed for the television and film markets to provide a safe and economical way to provide haze. Its superior hang time of 3+ hours, and remarkably conservative fluid usage of 35+ hours per 1/2 gallon tank (less than 2oz per hour) set the DF-50 apart from the rest of the field. With little to no residue, when used properly, and wonderfully odorless it was immediately embraced for remote shoots in homes, hotels, meeting halls, concert arenas and other live performances. The diffusion emitted from the DF-50 enhances, or excites, any and all light beams with the exception of fluorescent or white light, where it tends to washout until spots or moving lights come up for a show. However, this is quite an advantage when your guests or patrons are in the process of being seated prior to a show or presentation. Quite simply put, a gathering of people could literally be finishing up their dinner, or finding their seats, while the venue or hall is being filled with diffusion for the show without anyone noticing. The house lights go out, your moving and spot lights come up, and "Voila" the room has been pre-conditioned for a light show, which can cover many uses for concert, industrial or theme parks. Diffusion also works quite well outdoors in large concert venues. During the Pink Floyd tour after the sun went down and the light show began you could see the diffusion in the air. Prior to the concert there were beautiful beams of laser and refractions of light throughout the stadium. The wind, which was considered an obstacle, was very helpful in massaging and evenly distributing the diffusion mist so well that you could make out clear rays over the top of the stadium and beyond. Now, back to the television and film business to discuss miniatures and matched shots. We learned about three walling diffusion from prop master, Roger Horne, during the shooting of the " Wonder Years". Three walls were used to contain most of the diffusion in order to make it appear and look like fog across camera, or a muggy humid evening with a little rain thrown in, drizzle if you will. A great inexpensive look was achieved with little to no maintenance. The same holds true for steam. How many times have you needed to see steam coming up from a manhole cover in the street? No more costly and sometimes dangerous plumbing with a huge steam boiler and propane for that practical look. By using a three way manifolding system with separate hoses from the output of the DF-50 you can create several manhole covers to appear the same way. All this at a fraction of the cost and the ability to have it cued up and run remote, or on timers. Themed entertainment parks have used the DF-50 in many different areas. For example, its been used on mock volcanoes, not only to show a source of steam along its walls, but again due to the superior hang time it creates a great eerie look associated with that of an active volcano. By adding moving lights or lasers you can successfully simulate the active volcano look complete with the steam from the earth This was done at the Ala Moana Shopping Center in Hawaii on Oahu for a dinner show. Plans are also being done to achieve this same effect for Lotte World in Seoul, Korea. There is so many other uses for a (safe) fog such as: w Replicating a musty attic or basement. w Replicating a musty attic or basement. w A single light ray piercing through a stained glass window of a deserted church at sunset. w A single light ray piercing through a stained glass window of a deserted church at sunset. w A steam filled locker room, or a woman in a shower...simply wet down your actors, spray glycerin on the mirrors and glass. And many more uses too numerous to mention Not to be overlooked is the wide use of the DF-50 in nightclubs. Using the DF-50 wont produce the odors commonly associated with other types of fog machines. Several accessories are available for the DF-50, which include the following:
