DESIGN
The ‘RE’ Fan is easy to store and
set-up. The air chamber is a molded venturi shape, which focuses the wind. The
one-piece 11" blade is constructed of Lexan. The brushless 4 Amp AC motor
is controlled by a variac. An in-line switch is mounted on a heavy-duty
powder-coated welded tubular steel frame. The "RE’ Fan balances
beautifully on a versatile mounting yoke, which surrounds the unit for
transport, and rests on any surface and attaches to Baby and Junior receivers.
PERFORMANCE
The ‘RE’ Fan goes from full stop to
full power in 2 seconds. The blade and the motor combine for a maximum of 3500
RPM. The One-Touch Blast lets you go from a lower to higher
setting instantly.
Using the RE-Fan from a lighting
dimmer board
The fan speed is controlled by the
rotating dial on the rear of the fan housing. Pressing the red button will run
the fan at full speed as long as the button is depressed.
You can control the speed of the
fan from a lighting dimmer board as well. For this sort of use, we recommend
that you set the fan at 100% on its dial, and use the dimmer board to control
the speed. You should check with your dimmer board manufacturer to verify that
it will work with inductive motor loads, as some phase control dimmers won’t
hold a stable setting working into an inductive load. You will notice this
particularly at partial settings, around 50-70%, on the dimmer. If this occurs,
connecting a small incandescent lamp (100W) on the same dimmer in parallel with
the fan will usually cure the problem.
You can set the fan at a lesser
speed, and use the dimmer to further reduce the speed. For instance, you could
set the fan at 60%, and 100% on the dimmer will produce 60% on the fan, 50% on
the dimmer will produce 30% on the fan, and so forth.
Fan Beam Characteristics
The following table tells you the
air speed (in Feet Per Minute) depending on the distance from the front of the
fan and how far to the side you are.
